New Chiefs at Yahoo! News and FT.com
Although The Daily Telegraph is missing two online pioneers (see below), two other pioneers of online publishing have new jobs:
Yahoo! has hired Wall Street Journal Online founder Neil Budde as executive producer of Yahoo! News.
And, promoting within, the Financial Times has appointed Nigel Pocklington to the newly created role of director of online publishing. He will also be responsible for overseeing the FT’s electronic and specialist content syndication agreements and partnerships, report into Olivier Fleurot, chief executive of the Financial Times Group, and join the FT’s board of management. Netimperative reports that the move signals the FT is placing increasing importance in its Internet operations. Pocklington joined the Financial Times in September 2003 as commercial director of FT.com, after being director of strategy at parent company Pearson.

Wrt Nigel Pocklington. I interviewed him, as well as Simon Waldman at the Guardian and Annelies van den Belt at the Times, for an article in the Independent's new media section today (13 Dec) about online newspaper efforts and the future.
